Our baby is 9 months and had surgery for his cleft lip and gum at 3 months, also with Professor Haers, he did an amazing job and you can barely notice there was a huge gap there just a few months ago! I cannot even begin to imagine aborting a baby because of a cleft, it breaks my heart as in most cases this is just cosmetic! Like you this was suggested to us and we just could even comprehend such a thing! Your son is so handsome and was a cutie with his cleft :))Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-157741466626662784.post-51290097555312566602014-03-27T15:14:55.158+00:002014-03-27T15:14:55.158+00:00Hi There,

I was born with a cleft lip and palate and know firsthand about the difficulties many children experience as a result. My childhood was fraught with taunts of “Harelip” and bullying, but with courage, humor, and my family’s love, I overcame the shame, handicaps, and personal losses that might’ve defeated others less resolute. My memoir, Cleft Heart: Chasing Normal, will be released in October. I currently update my own blog and would love if you could check out my postings at KarlSchonborn.com. It’d be great to connect on twitter (@KarlSchonborn) and Facebook (Facebook.com/CleftHeartChasingNormal). I am always looking for new people to follow and connect with through social media! Thanks for your time and for the great posts on your site.Karl Schonbornhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08513261815995488779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-157741466626662784.post-48542175817299000972013-07-22T01:13:36.032+01:002013-07-22T01:13:36.032+01:00Great story. If so, I have the experience to say you'll be 100% fine and arguably, you won't get better treatment anywhere else on earth. HOWEVER from all the emaisl I've had from people around the world and in particular the US and Australia, you'll be just as well looked after.

I think the main thing is to focuss on having a child and not a child with a cleft lip and / or palate. Remember they are no different, they just came out with a couple of VERY fixable issues...have a read through the blog to find the parts around the operations Jake had to get a clearer of what's involved and how you'll feel (look at Jan 2009 and July 2009)...I'm not saying it won't be upsetting and hard work but it's done so quickly in the great scheme of things that before long, like us, you'll see it all in an easier context than right now.

Anywa, good luck and let me know if you need any more specific advice.

Take careJames Ferniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06706747259603643789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-157741466626662784.post-16028055885283242742012-07-03T01:33:08.731+01:002012-07-03T01:33:08.731+01:00I have a 2 1/2 week old with a bilateral cleft and...I have a 2 1/2 week old with a bilateral cleft and palate is affected? any tips or advice?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-157741466626662784.post-39111341673225897322012-06-15T08:10:00.337+01:002012-06-15T08:10:00.337+01:00Hi there, feel free to ask anything you like, alwa...Hi there, feel free to ask anything you like, always happy to help if I can. good luck, you'll be fine I promise

JamesJames Ferniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06706747259603643789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-157741466626662784.post-77699988752653960412012-06-15T03:32:22.221+01:002012-06-15T03:32:22.221+01:00Hey Im new to this whole blogging thing, and i stu...Hey Im new to this whole blogging thing, and i stumbled across your blog while trying to find information on babies with cleft lip and palates.
